Autumn Floral & Foliage Salt Dough Mobile

This gorgeous little fall mobile was not only incredibly easy to create, but it turned out ten times more beautiful than I was expecting. It tells the story of autumn in our backyard and reminds me of the adventure Sawyer and I went on to the gather the collection. It's sure to become a seasonal item to grace our walls...

We went out into the yard and picked and plucked our way through the garden and collected a wide variety of autumnal samplings. We talked about the shifting seasons and the change that the plants were going through. Then we headed back into the kitchen and mixed up our salt dough recipe...

Salt Dough Ingredients:

- 1 cup salt

- 1 cup water

- 2 cup flour

Mix all of the ingredients together, then knead the dough and roll it out into about a half inch thick. Use cookies cutters or a drinking cup to cut out the mobile shapes. Press your fall florals and foliage into the shapes, use a tooth pick to pierce a hole to hang them by, and then arrange your pieces onto a baking sheet.

Bake at 200 degrees for 2 - 3 hours (depending on thickness)

Choose a branch, piece of wood or other mobile hanger to string up your pieces using a nice soft cotton thread or jute cord that will fit through the toothpick holes in your pieces.

I love how our autumn mobile creation turned out, it's the perfect DIY to memorialize these final autumn days of 2020.

I warned him it wouldn't taste good. But he had to see for himself lol
